Land Clearing and Site Work Questions

Land clearing takes the trees and brush off overgrown ground, whether on a house lot or a big tract. Tree clearing is part of it: the tree shear and excavators bring the trees down. Root raking pulls the stumps and roots where the ground has to be clean. When we finish, the ground is ready to grade, build on, fence or plant.

Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees into mulch where they stand, and the stumps and roots stay. It suits underbrush, fence lines, hunting lanes and woods you plan to keep, though the stumps can sprout back. Land clearing pulls the stumps and roots with root rakes, so a house pad or a pasture can go in. Trees too big for the mulching head come down with the tree shear.

On a land clearing job, everything we take out, stumps included, goes on our own trucks and off the property. With forestry mulching, the mulch stays on the ground as cover, so there is nothing to haul.

Yes, lot clearing comes first: the trees come down and the stumps come out. Then we haul in fill and build up the house pad, shaped to drain. The driveway entrance gets cut in, with a culvert where the county requires one. Mobile home pads and shop pads are built the same way.

Yes. Underground utilities are part of our work: water lines, sewer lines, storm drainage pipe and culverts. For power, we cut and backfill the conduit trench, and a licensed electrician pulls the wire. Septic systems and gas lines go to other trades.

Yes, demolition takes in houses, fire-damaged and storm-damaged buildings, mobile homes, barns, sheds and old slabs. We haul the debris off on our own trucks and leave the lot cleared and graded. Mississippi and Alabama asbestos rules generally exempt a single house, but commercial buildings need an asbestos inspection first. Check with your city or county about a demolition permit.

We are based in Waynesboro in Wayne County and work about 70 miles out, across southeast Mississippi and southwest Alabama. That takes in Quitman, Laurel, Hattiesburg, Petal, Meridian, Leakesville and Lucedale on the Mississippi side. On the Alabama side, it reaches Butler, Grove Hill, Jackson and Citronelle. Industrial and oilfield work can take us farther, so ask if your site is outside that circle.
