Presto Contractors is run by Harrison Kelley out of Waynesboro, the county seat of Wayne County. He took over the business in 2022 from his father, who started the operation in 1991. Today the company does land clearing, site prep, dirt work, underground utilities and demolition. That work runs on the company's own excavators, dozers, mulching equipment and trucks.
Land clearing is the main part of our work, on acreage and lots grown up in sweetgum and privet. Where the ground can stay covered, the mulching head grinds brush and small trees into mulch where they stand. Where it has to come clean, the tree shear and root rakes take out the trees and stumps. That debris goes on our own dump trucks and off the property.
After the clearing, we build up house pads and building pads with fill and shape them to drain. Our excavators dig the drainage ditches, and we lay water and sewer lines in the trenches they cut. When a burned house or an old barn has to go, we take it down and clear the lot. That work reaches about 70 miles out from Waynesboro, across southeast Mississippi and southwest Alabama.
Sawmills, paper mills and forestry companies bring us in for yard grading and haul roads. For oil and gas operators, we build location pads and lease roads in the Wayne County and south Alabama fields.
